Disneyland is a dream destination for so many families—but let’s be honest for a second. Between the crowds, long lines, and the sheer amount of planning involved, even the most magical place on earth can test your patience.
Don’t get me wrong... I’m a huge Disney fan and genuinely enjoy planning trips there. But even the best itineraries can hit a few bumps. That’s exactly why, a few years ago, I decided to elevate my experience and try something completely new: visiting Disneyland with Adventures by Disney.

So…What is an Adventures by Disney Disneyland Trip?
I’m so glad you asked! Adventures by Disney (ABD) offers premium, small-group guided vacations to destinations around the world. On these trips, two Adventure Guides handle all the logistics—think reservations, transportation, and even exclusive access to experiences you simply can’t get on your own.
And the Disneyland itinerary? It’s so much more than just time in the parks. ABD (Adventures By Disney) takes you beyond the gates, offering visits to places like Walt Disney Studios and Imagineering—locations that are deeply woven into the magic of Disney itself and hard to see without granted access.
Behind the Magic: Studios & Imagineering
One of the highlights was visiting the Walt Disney Studios. Not only did we learn about the company’s rich history and current projects, we also toured the Archives—home to countless iconic Disney artifacts. At one point, we even took turns holding one of Walt’s Oscars for a photo. Yes, really. Our amazing Adventure Guides (two incredible cast members who lead the vacation and take care of all the details) made sure every guests got the photo they wanted.

Then came Imagineering—and honestly, this was mind-blowing.
At Walt Disney Imagineering, creativity is everywhere. This is where Disney dreams are designed and brought to life. We got a rare behind-the-scenes look at projects currently in development—something that felt incredibly special and unforgettable. Pictures are not allowed and you get to fully immerse and take in the magic. The whole experience felt very VIP and exclusive.
Yes, You Still Get Plenty of Park Time!
If you’re wondering whether you actually get to enjoy the parks—the answer is a resounding yes.
In fact, one morning we opened Disneyland before the general public. We passed the early risers who were already patiently waiting in line and we entered and began our journey walking down an empty Main Street and taking photos in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle without the crowds. Our Adventure Guides for sure brought the magic and that was a core memory I’ll never forget.
In addition to those amazing experiences, throughout the trip, the perks kept coming:
Lightning Lane access to top attractions
Reserved viewing for parades and shows
Insider stories and behind-the-scenes insights from cast members
But for me, the most unforgettable moments were the exclusive backstage experiences.
We went behind the scenes of Soarin' and learned how the ride was created—including how Disney selected the scents for each scene. Then we watched guest experience from behind the giant screen, which gave us a completely new perspective.
Later, we visited the hidden garage behind Radiator Springs Racers, where the ride vehicles are maintained. We even picked up a few insider secrets—like how to guess which car might win your race (but I’ll let you discover that one yourself).
What’s Included:
One of the biggest advantages of an Adventures by Disney trip is how much is taken care of for you.
For the Disneyland itinerary, that includes:
All ground transportation
Most meals
Park Hopper tickets
A stay at the stunning Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa
Access to Walt's private apartment
And then there are the surprises! Disney is known for magical touches, and ABD delivers plenty of them—little extras that pop up throughout the trip and elevate the entire experience beyond what you’d expect from a typical vacation.
Is It Worth It?
If you’re looking for a once-in-a-lifetime Disneyland experience, this is absolutely it.
You can choose between a 4-day Escape or a 6-day Land Adventure, which also includes time in Hollywood and additional park days.
So, would I do it again?
Without hesitation—yes.
In fact, I have experienced multiple Adventures By Disney short escapes and recently tried their Canadian Land experience which was fantastic. I would love to help find the right itinerary for your family. Reach out and let's get started on your next ADVENTURE!
