Disneyland Hotel Club Level Review for Families: Is It Worth the Upgrade?

When I started planning for our Disneyland trip, I considered many things. Should we stay on-site or off-site? If we do stay on-site, what do we want out of our resort hotel? It quickly became important to us that we would want to be as close to the parks as possible so that we could take midday breaks if we wanted to. Also, we were flying in from across the country and we were not renting a car at that point. Going to the grocery store or having a place large enough to house groceries was not in our plan. After thinking through our needs for the trip, we narrowed our choices down to the three Disneyland Resort Hotels and ultimately chose The Disneyland Hotel with Club Level access. Club Level means that rooms are on one of the higher-level floors (9-11), have better views, and full access to The High Key Club lounge. We knew we would take advantage of all the perks! Let me break it down for you and see if this is also the right choice for your next magical visit.

The Disneyland Hotel has a modern twist on the Disney classics! It is divided into 4 towers (Adventure, Fantasy, Frontier & Discovery). The tower that contains the club level is the Adventure Tower! The High Key Club was on floor 11 and our room was on 9, just a two level difference. We chose a Club Level Room with a Standard View which gave us a great view of the other towers and the pool area!

The High Key Club Lounge

This newly renovated concierge lounge celebrates Disneyland’s park music from opening day to now. The lounge is expansive with numerous seating options as well as an area designated for the littles. It also offers panoramic views of the parks and Downtown Disney! A bonus is that club level guests can watch the Disneyland Park fireworks while listening to a live synchronized broadcast from the comfort of the lounge!

When we checked into the hotel, we were escorted to the lounge by a concierge cast member. We were welcomed to the lounge with complimentary non-alcoholic beverages and given a tour of everything the lounge has to offer before checking out our room!

The club is open daily from 6:30 am - 10 pm which was great for our family and worth the upgraded cost.

Every morning from 6:30 am - 10 am they offer cereal, fruit, juices and pastries! While we were there they also had hard boiled and deviled eggs, biscuits and gravy, and much more! They had drip coffee as well as an espresso machine with many syrup and milk options. You could even request a mimosa if you wanted! This was great for us to get a good breakfast before heading to the parks. We were even able to take our coffee to go and request water bottles to take to the parks. All included!

At 11 am, they now have what they call their “Afternoon Delights.” Throughout our stay, they would have assorted sandwiches, pasta salads, chips with different dips, granola bars, fruit and other items tht were great for snacking on. This would be a great option for us to pop back up to the club after spending the morning in the parks and take a little break.

From 5pm - 7pm was “Magic Hours” where they’d have some appetizers, crudités and charcuterie... yum!

Then from 8 pm- 10 pm might have been my family’s favorite part: “Sweet Dreams!” During this time, they’d have all the sweet treats you could imagine, popcorn, plus hot chocolate and even Mickey Ice Cream Bars upon request. Did I mention it’s included?!

A fun fact about our time in Disneyland was that we had a big celebration. It happened to be my husband’s birthday! I mentioned it once to the cast member and she remembered! Look at this sweet note we got delivered to our room:
